Follow up: iPhone NOT a Threat to RIM
Earlier today I posted an article that talked about why the iPhone, with its new enterprise features and development kit, was not a threat to Research In Motion and their BlackBerry devices. You can read the article entitled, iPhone NOT a Threat to RIM.
I wrote that article before this past weekend which saw some interesting [...]
iPhone is NOT a Threat to RIM
In the past week, I have read several articles that have said pretty much the same thing. That “thing” is that the iPhone is going to be a serious threat to RIM in terms of market share now that the iPhone has Exchange functionality and and development kit that will give it third party application support. Let me make this plain and simple the iPhone will NOT be a serious threat to RIM and I will explain why.
Firefox 3 Beta 4 Improves Memory Usage
Yesterday Mozilla released the latest Firefox 3 beta (Beta 4) and with that release we see improvements in the memory usage of Firefox. Firefox 2.0 has been the center of memory scrutiny pretty much since its release but that starts to see a light at the end of a dark tunnel in Firefox 3.

Third Party Desktop Applications in a Web 2.0 World
Why build desktop applications when web applications are getting more complex and essentially becoming full-featured applications in their own right? Are desktop applications important in a Web 2.0, software as a service world? I want to look at that a little bit today.
Down on Apple?
Last week, Engadget had post about a possible second generation iPhone leak (New iPhone Design Leaked on iTunes? Highly Unlikely). In the comments of this post you’ll find a couple of people really dissing Apple in an extremely horrendous way. This is something that seems to have become sort of sport on the internet lately. How bad can you insult Apple. It is basically nothing but trolling, and normally one should not feed the trolls but I just had to post something because lately this kind of thing has really gotten to me.
Nine Inch Nails Gets it Right
There are many arguments on how to release an album on the internet. Radiohead’s In Rainbows album was a success if you ask them but they have not come forward with the numbers yet. Trent Reznor’s NiggyTardust experiment was a moderate success. The album wasn’t flying off the digital shelves but it did sell an impressive number even when a free download was available. You will find debates everywhere from Digg to Slashdot to NIN.com on the proper way to release an album digitally, over the internet, and directly from the artist.
How Much? 140 Characters Worth
Yesterday, I listened to the latest episode of TWiT (This Week in Tech), episode 134 to be exact. In this episode, the question was asked, is there value in these 140 character message conversations being had on the likes of Twitter, Jaiku, & Pownce? One would think that 140 characters is not a lot of space to say anything in but if you really sit and think about it, you do it everytime you send a text message. Can you same something worth while in a text message? Most of you will answer “Yes” to that question. So it stands to reason that valuable conversations can be had in short, 140 character messages.
People Down on Pownce
Yesterday, TechCrunch posted a note about micro-blogging website, Pownce releasing an updated API to programmers this coming Friday. The comments seem to be swayed towards most people disliking Pownce. People saying things like "Let it die" and "I can do this through email, im, or something else" and I think people are either a) [...]
