I do use Twhril when I'm at a physical computer. It is a fantastic piece of
software. However, I used IM on my BlackBerry over SMS because I like IM
better (it takes me less clicks to do Twitter from Google Talk on my
BlackBerry than doing it via SMS). Since twitter has taken away IM my
mobile tweets have drastically reduced, which to me seems to be the opposite
of what Twitter is about.

Try using a client like twhirl… its pretty useful for im-style twittering.
