Customizing Your Gnome Desktop: Gnome Panel

For the final part of our series on customizing your Linux Gnome desktop, we are going to look at the Gnome Panel. The Gnome Panel are the bars that hold your menu and window list. Anti-Homeschooling aka Ignorance is Bliss (I Guess)

I can always count on Digg to point me at something I can commentate on. For this week’s commentary, I want to look at this diatribe against home schooling.

For starters, I was home schooled for my last three years of high school. Three years before that, I was enrolled in small community based private school. And to top it all off I was in public schools from elementary to middle school. So I was actively involved in all three of the most popular forms of education. I met people that I work with while home schooling. I met my “life long” friend in middle school. I still talk to people I went to elementary school with. Continue reading

Running Compiz Fusion

I made the switch from Beryl to Compiz-Fusion just now. Overall I like the fact that I have some of my favorite Beryl plugins in Compiz and that there is finally a Compiz Settings Manager so that I can easily set up the plugins to my liking. Continue reading

EMI Reports DRM-Free Sales are Doing Well

If the sales continue to do well, more labels might follow suit and that would be fantastic. I know personally there have been a few albums I was willing to purchase off of iTunes but they were not from EMI so the were not DRM-Free. This made me consider getting a new eMusic account so that I could get the albums DRM-Free. I am pretty sure I am not the only one making a decision like this. Having DRM-Free music is important to me, especially more so since I am using Linux as my primary operating system. Continue reading
